PITTSBURGH, PA — A man died early Sunday in an officer-involved shooting in Heidelberg.
At 12 a.m. Allegheny County 911 received a call from someone claiming to be armed and threatening to harm themself and others in the 1700 block of Washington Street. When officers arrived on scene, they encountered a man outside a residence with a knife.
According to county police, preliminary information indicates responding officers ordered the man to drop the knife when he charged towards the officers. A Heidelberg police officer deployed a taser, but the man continued towards officers with the knife. A Scott Township police officer then shot the man multiple times.

The unidentified man was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
County police are investigating.
