Pittsburgh-Area Mall Up For Sheriff's Sale

A financially troubled Pittsburgh-area mall soon could have new ownership.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The troubled Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills could have new ownership next week. The mall a several adjacent properties are up for sheriff sales on Oct. 2 at the Allegheny County Courthouse.

Any company willing to pay $11.5 million in back taxes and associated fees could purchase the mall, which has struggled to maintain tenants in recent years. Namdar Realty, which owns the complex, hasn't paid that amount in special assessment taxes for several years.

Four specific properties are listed in county sheriff sale legal documents. There's main 1.1. milion-square-foot building; the former Sears building and two vacant commercial properties.

According to the Galleria website, the mall currently has 31 tenants. Among the most well-known are Macy's, Dick Sporting Goods and Bath and Body works.

The mall has been open since 2005. Namdar acquired it 2018.
