Pittsburgh-Area Man Pleads Guilty To Stabbing Mother To Death
The victim's son stabbed her multiple times in the head.

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, PA — A man has pleaded guilty but mentally ill in the stabbing death of his mother in 2024.
According to Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli, Brian Rebold, 40, entered the plea last week. He was charged with one count of first-degree murder in the death of Diana Rebold.
Arnold Police and Westmoreland County Detective Bureau responded to the deadly stabbing in August 2024 in the 100 block of Liberty Avenue in Arnold.

Rebold called 911 to report the stabbing. Several neighbors witnessed the incident and provided statements to officers on scene.
Responding officers found the suspect’s mother, Diana Rebold, lying unresponsive in the street and bleeding profusely from her head.

The victim suffered from multiple stab wounds to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rebold's sentencing will be scheduled in 90 days and carries the mandatory incarceration sentence of life without parole.
Rebold was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation prior to sentencing.
The judge will consider whether Rebold is need of psychiatric treatment that would allow him to begin serving the sentence at a secure state hospital before entering the department of corrections.
