PITTSBURGH, PA — A Pittsburgh-area man is in prison after allegedly killing and burning a family pet.

He also has been accused of firing a gun into the air multiple times.

Pennsylvania State Police said Tyler Rost-Maiolie, 27, of Derry Township, Westmoreland County, has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty, reckless endangerment and other charges.

Police were summoned after Rost-Maiolie allegedly was firing shots in the air on a New Alexandria street. He allegedly admitted to killing a family cat that police found burned in the nearby fire pit.
