Pittsburgh-Area Police Officer Shooting Suspect Identified
Police have released the name of the suspect in the shooting of a Monroeville police officer Wednesday evening.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Allegheny County police have filed charges in connection with the shooting of a Monroeville police sergeant Wednesday night.
Jamal Brooks, 32, has been charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and assault of a law enforcement officer. He has been arraigned, denied bail and remains in the Allegheny County Jail.
The incident occurred after Monroeville police were notified of the armed robbery at Crumbl Cookies in the Miracle Mile Shopping Center.

Minutes later, the sergeant traveling on Monroeville Boulevard near Stonefliffe Drive saw a man matching the suspect's description. Gunfire erupted and the sergeant and his vehicle were shot multiple times.
Other officers apprehended Brooks in a Stonecliffe Drive parking lot shortly thereafter.Detectives recovered two firearms at the scene and a total of 16 spent shell casings.

The wounded officer is recovering in the hospital from three gunshot wounds and last was listed in stable condition.
