Pittsburgh-Area Police Officer Shot
The shooting occurred as police responded to a domestic disturbance call.
NORTH VERSAILLES, PA — A North Versailles police officer was shot early Friday after responding to a domestic disturbance with shots fired call.
At 3:39, Allegheny County 911 was notified of the disturbance in the 200 block of Arlington Avenue. Responding officers encountered a male suspect in an alley behind a residence and attempted to take him into custody. The man refused commands, took out a handgun and fired at least one shot, striking the North Versailles officer.
Officers returned fire, but the suspect successfully fled the scene. The North Versailles officer was taken to the hospital and was in stable condition Friday morning.
