Pittsburgh-Area Police Officer Shot Multiple Times

A suburban Pittsburgh police officer was shot while pursuing a robbery suspect on Wednesday.

MONROEVILLE, PA — A police officer was shot multiple times Wednesday night by a suspect wanted in connection with a robbery in the Miracle Mile Shopping Center.

Shortly after 9 p.m., Monroeville police were notified of the armed robbery at Crumbl Cookies. Minutes later, an officer traveling on Monroeville Boulevard near Stonefliffe Drive saw a man matching the suspect's description. Gunfire erupted and the officer and his vehicle were shot multiple times.

According to Allegheny County police, the officer was taken to an area hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Other officers apprehended the suspect in a Stonecliffe Drive parking lot shortly thereafter.

The officer who was shot and the suspect had not been identified as of Thursday morning.
