Pittsburgh-Area Restaurant Owner Loses Father, Son To COVID-19

The grief-stricken restaurant owner had coronavirus claim his father and son within 36 hours of each other.

WASHINGTON, PA — The owner of a popular southwestern Pennsylvania eatery lost his father and his son to coronavirus complications within 36 hours of each other.

The father of Alan Collins, the owner of Al'an Reubens Bar and Restaurant, died on Sept. 28. A day after Alan Collins Sr. died, the virus claimed the life of Collins son, Alan Brown Sr.

"My father will be buried Thursday. My son will be buried Friday, a day after each other," Collins told WPXI-TV. "Just like they passed."

Mahogany Brown of Munhall, Alan Brown's widow, told WTAE-TV that neither she nor her husband were vaccinated against the virus when Brown caught it from their son.

According to a GoFundMe page created to assist with funeral expenses, Alan Brown Sr. was an avid fan of tennis shoes and founded Pittsburgh's largest Facebook shoe group, Kicks on Flame.
