Pittsburgh-Area Retirement Home Evacuated After Suspected Gas Leak
Multiple emergency responders were called to the scene of the suspected leak late Tuesday, authorities said.
McCANDLESS, PA — One person was hospitalized and at least 15 others evacuated from the Vincentian Home late Tuesday after a strong odor of gas was reported.
Ross-West View EMSA said in a social media post that a mass casualty incident requiring responses from multiple emergency medical services organizations had been declared. The condition of the person hospitalized is unknown, but the EMSA post indicated that at least one person was reported to be unresponsive.
Vincentian Home is a continuing care retirement community that includes independent living for seniors at Vincentian Villa, personal care for 50 residents, a memory care community and skilled nursing and rehabilitation for 180 residents.
