Pittsburgh Area At Risk Of Severe Storms, Flooding

PITTSBURGH, PA — After a pleasant, sunny day on Sunday, the threat of severe weather returns to Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania today.

The National Weather Service says the most likely timing of the storms will be between noon and 5 p.m. The main threat will be damaging wind, although large hail and a few tornadoes also could occur.

The storms tracking through the area could cause heavy rain throughout the region and could trigger flash flooding later tonight.

New rainfall amounts could be as much as half an inch. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent.

Showers and storms will persist overnight with rainfall amounts potentially reaching another half an inch. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
