Pittsburgh-Area School District Again In Lockdown

The modified lockdown will be in effect Friday, district officials announced.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Four days after a South Butler School District student was arrested after a threatening post surfaced online, the district again is in a modified lockdown as rumors of threats continue to circulate.

Superintendent David Foley said in a letter that the district will be in a modified lockdown Friday. No visitors will be admitted to district buildings, students will remain indoors for the entire day and school police will patrol with heightened visibility.

“We want to emphasize that the same law enforcement personnel who handled the (previous) situation have investigated and have not been able to find credibility within these rumors,” Foley wrote. “We believe that in the interest of uninterrupted instruction, we need to provide this extra layer of security.”
