Pittsburgh-Area School District Closed Due To Threats

Once again, the threat of violence has shut down a southwestern Pennsylvania school district.

PITTSBURGH, PA - For the second consecutive school day, the Ringgold School District in Washington County has canceled classes due to threats of violence. The district announced the move on its Facebook page.

"Over the weekend, Ringgold School District administrators and district police were alerted to additional threats of violence and are investigating these matters," the post stated. "In an effort to provide sufficient timefor this work and in an abundance of caution, the school district will

be closed. We will be using a flexible instruction day on Monday.

"Providing a safe and secure learning environment is the top priority of the Ringgold School District, and we take these incidents veryseriously. Extensive security measures are in place to help us maintain asafe campus. As our investigation continues, we will determine anyongoing credibility of threats and follow the recommendations of the Ringgold School Police and local municipal agencies, in accordance withRinggold School District policy."

Classes also were canceled Friday in the district because of threats.
