Pittsburgh-Area Shooting And Standoff: Latest Update
A woman was shot Monday evening in a Pittsburgh-area community. A man then barricaded himself in a home with a family member.
McKEESPORT, PA — An hours-long standoff after a shooting Monday evening in the 1200 block of Pirl Street ended early Tuesday when the suspect surrendered.
The 42-year-old man was taken into custody at around 3 a.m. on Tuesday.
A woman found outside the residence when police arrived at around 7:30 p.m. on Monday was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. She is in critical condition.

The suspect then barricaded himself in the home with an adult family member.
Shots were fired at the McKeesport officers who initially responded to a ShotSpotter alert. They requested assistance from the Allegheny County SWAT team and homicide unit.

The names of the suspect and the woman who was wounded wounded were not available Tuesday morning.
