Pittsburgh-Area Teacher Assaulted Outside Of School

The alleged assault occurred Monday as the teacher was leaving her elementary school.

HOMESTEAD, PA — A man was arrested Monday after allegedly assaulting a Steel Valley School District elementary school teacher.

The alleged assault took place outside of Barrett Elementary School as the teacher was leaving the building at around 3:20 p.m. The teacher said a man, later identified as Ibrahim Hamisu, 28, lunged at her and grabbed her arm. He held onto her, grabbed her keys and threw them to the ground.

The teacher was able to escape and run back to the school, while the suspect walked away.

Police reviewed a school surveillance video that corroborated the teacher's version of events according to court documents.

Hamisu is charged with false imprisonment, aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. He is being housed n the Allegheny County Jail.
