Pittsburgh-Area Teen Charged With Shooting At Police Officers

Gunfire was exchanged Tuesday between a Pittsburgh-area youth and police officers.

STOWE TOWNSHIP, PA — A 17-year-old teen is in custody after allegedly firing shots at police officers on Tuesday.

Shortly after 2 p.m., officers with the McKees Rocks Police Department and Stowe Township Police Department were conducting an investigation in an unmarked police vehicle in Stowe Township.

As the officers stopped in the 700 block of Woodward Avenue, a male suspect fired multiple shots at the officers’ vehicle. An officer with the McKees Rocks Police Department exited the vehicle and returned fire.

Neither of the officers involved were injured and the suspect fled the scene.

Allegheny County police assistance was requested.

Through witness interviews and surveillance video detectives were able to determine the suspect was Delvone Woodson of Stowe.

He has been taken into custody and will be charged as an adult. The charges include criminal attempted homicide, assault of a law enforcement officer and illegal possession of a firearm.

Woodson is being housed in the Allegheny County Jail
