Pittsburgh-Area Teen Struck & Killed By Train
Authorities have identified the Pittsburgh-area person who was hit and killed by a train on Monday evening.
WESTMORELAND COUNTY — The person who was fatally struck by a train in Hempfield Monday night has been identified as a 14-year-old teen, Pennsylvania State Police said.
The identification was made on Tuesday, hours after the Westmoreland County Coroner's Office issued a request for the public's assistance in helping to determine the identity of the person killed.
The teen's name has not been released.

The incident occurred at around 9 p.m. at Northern Southern Track #1, Milepost 320. It did not happen at a railroad crossing.
According to the coroner's office, the cause and manner of death are pending autopsy results, toxicology results and further investigation.
