Pittsburgh Boy Dies After Being Shot In Head

The gunshot wound a Pittsburgh boy suffered over the weekend has proven fatal.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The 7-year-old boy shot over the weekend in the city's California-Kirkbride neighborhood has died.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office said Kruz Bailey-Baker, succumbed to his wound Wednesday night in the hospital.

Approximately 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Pittsburgh Police were dispatched to the 900 block of Kirkbride Street. When they arrived, they found Kruz with a single gunshot wound to the head. EMS took him to the hospital in critical condition.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, Kruz and a 9-year-old boy were handling a firearm in the basement of a residence when it discharged. The 9-year-old told police that he was in possession of the firearm when the incident occurred.

Detectives recovered a firearm at the scene.
