Pittsburgh Dining: Six New Restaurants Prepare To Debut
The new restaurants in and around Pittsburgh embrace a variety of concepts and menu items.
PITTSBURGH, PA - With numerous gourmet restaurants having opened in recent years, Pittsburgh has been nationally lauded for its dining scene. There's no sign that the trend of exciting new eateries opening around town will slow down any time soon; here are six that are preparing to open in the near future:
Gordo's Tacos & Tequila
Where: Shiloh Street, Mt. Washington

Opening: February 2020
What to expect: A family-friendly restaurant and bar with a menu inspired by Mexico City street foods, according to Good Food Pittsburgh. There will be two floors, two bars and the place will seat 120.

The Eagle Food and Beer Hall
Where: Penn Avenue, Downtown
Opening: Anticipated in 2020
What to expect: The Eagle's menu is highlighted by all-natural chicken that is brined, dredged, then cooked in custom-built fryers. It's served with house-made hot honey. The Eagle also specializes in southern sides, craft beer, cocktails and blues music,

Fig & Ash
Where: East Ohio Street, North Side
Opening: Anticipated by year's end.
What to expect: Offerings from a wood fire kitchen by owner/chef Cory Hughes, who has toiled at Cafe at the Frick, Spoon, Eleven, Six Penn and even Google's Pittsburgh office. Entrees will includeDuroc pork chop, arctic char, chicken roulade and house dry-aged ribeye.

Where: North Shore Drive, North Shore
Opening: Spring 2020
What to expect: Duckpin bowling and pinball will be among the entertainment attractions
of a new craft beer bar planned for the former Tilted Kilt space. Shorty's will include a large outdoor riverfront street food space that will be covered and heated for year-round operation.
Oakmont Barbecue Company
Where: Allegheny River Boulevard, Verona
Opening: Anticipated in 2020
What to expect: The same delicious barbecue that's been served by the popular Oakmont Barbecue Company food truck - pulled pork, beef brisket, ribs, nachos and mac and cheese - only in a bricks-and-mortar setting.
The Woods House
Where: Monongahela Avenue, Hazelwood
Opening: Anticipated in 2020
What to expect: Built in 1792, the John Woods House is considered one of the oldest remaining structures in Pittsburgh. It's being converted into a restaurant that its website says will offer "good food that will sample eats and drinks found in traditional Scottish pubs as well as our local fare. Pittsburgh delicacies and food trucks will also be featured."
