PITTSBURGH, PA - The honors keep rolling in for Altius. Last month, the Mt. Washington restaurant was one of two Pittsburgh restaurants ranked among the nation’s 100 most scenic eateries by OpenTable, an online restaurant reservation provider.
Now Open Table has named Altius one of the nation’s 100 best restaurants for wine lovers in 2018. The list of honorees is based on an analysis of more than 12 million reviews of more than 28,000 restaurants across the country—all submitted by verified diners.
All restaurants with a minimum “overall” score and number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration. Qualifying restaurants were then scored and sorted according to the percentage of reviews for which “notable wine list” was selected as a special feature.

Altius was the only Pittsburgh restaurant to make the list and only one of five in Pennsylvania to do so. Of the other four, three were in Philadelphia and one was in Hershey.
"Whether you're a wine aficionado or a novice looking to expand your palate, this year's list showcases a variety of restaurants that carefully curate the finest wine selections to complement their menus," said OpenTable chief dining officer Caroline Potter. "From deep dives with sommeliers to approachable tastings to find the perfect pairing for any meal, these winning restaurants have earned rave reviews for their stellar dining experiences and impressive wine offerings.
