Pittsburgh Eatery Shut Down For Health Violations

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has ordered the closure of El
Pariente, a Mexican restaurant on Liberty Avenue in Bloomfield.
An inspection this week revealed salsa, raw ground beef, sliced lettuce, cream cheese and cooked potatoes were being stored at unsafe temperatures.

There also was no sanitizer to clean food contact surfaces. Nor was there a food preparation sink to wash produce.
The inspector also found that some of the food preparation is performed in a residential home.

The eatery also was operating without a valid health permit and did not submit plans to the health department before opening.
It's unclear when, or if, the restaurant will reopen.
