Pittsburgh Expecting Dangerous Heat Index; Severe Storms On Way

PITTSBURGH, PA — Heat index values of up to 104 are expected in Western Pennsylvania on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
A heat advisory is in effect from 11 a.m.- 9 p.m.
There also is the potential for severe weather tonight with the approach of a cold front. The main threats will be damaging winds.

The threat for severe weather will extend into Saturday, when the heat wave will end. Although the high temperature is expected to rise to around 90, the high on Sunday is expected to be in the low 80s.
Temperatures are not expected to rise above the mid-80s next week.
