Pittsburgh Farmers Markets Set To Kick Off

Market Square Farmers Market debuts this week, Mellon Square and other city farmers markets to follow.

PITTSBURGH, PA - The farmers market season begins in the city next week, with a myriad of vendors about to descend on multiple locations to sell fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses and baked goods. Several markets around the city also will sell flowers, small gifts and gardening items.

The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership kicks things off on May 11 when the 13th annual Market Square Farmers Market and Concert Series debuts. The Market Square event will run every Thursday through October 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Citiparks farmers markets will have a rolling debut schedule. The first one occurs May 12 in Mellon Square, Downtown, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dates and times for other Citparks farmers markets:

  • East Liberty: Station Street and North Euclid Avenue parking lot, 3 p.m.- 7 p.m. Mondays beginning May 15.
  • South Side: 18th Street and Carson Street parking lot, 3 p.m.-7 p.m. Tuesdays beginning May 16.
  • North Side: East Ohio Street and Cedar Avenue, 3 p.m.-7 p.m. Fridays beginning May 19.
  • Squirrel Hill: Beacon-Barlett parking lot, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sundays beginning June 4.
  • Carrick: 1529 Brownsville Road, 3 p.m.-7 p.m. Wednesdays beginning June 21.
  • Beechview, Broadway Avenue-Beechview Avenue parking lot, 3p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays beginning June 22.

The Citiparks’ farmers markets will run through mid-November.
