Pittsburgh First Night New Year's Eve Festivities Unveiled

This year's First Night will consist of a TV special instead of an hours-long celebration in Downtown Pittsburgh.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Highmark First Night, the annual New Year's Eve celebration that usually brings tens of thousands of people to Downtown Pittsburgh ring in the new year, won't do so this year because of the coronavirus outbreak.

But the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announced Monday that KDKA-TV's Heather Abraham and David Highfield will host a one-hour, TV-only edition of the event at 11 p.m. on Dec. 31.

According to a release from the trust, the special will include music, magic, and an array of artists. The event will include the traditional fireworks and the raising of the Future of Pittsburgh Ball.
