Pittsburgh Getting Taco Bells That Serve Alcohol, Report Says

Prototypes of the cantina-style restaurants already have opened in Las Vegas and several other cities.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Care for some tequila with your taco? Pittsburgh is among the cities that will be getting new cantina-style Taco Bells that will lack standard drive-thru windows but serve alcohol, a report says.

According to Food & Wine, Taco Bell is looking to add more than 300 new restaurants in large cities such as New York, Pittsburgh and Detroit and Nashville. Taco Bell’s website indicates cantinas also are planned in cities such as Cleveland and San Antonio.

Taco Bell has opened sleek-looking cantina prototypes in Las Vegas, near Chicago, San Francisco and Austin and they come with digital menu boards, open kitchens, souvenir areas and are decorated with local artwork.

But perhaps the biggest change from existing Taco Bells is that the cantinas serve beer and Twisted Freezes customized with vodka, tequila and rum, whiskey and spiced rum. The cantinas also have a shareables menu that includes items such as cheesy bacon jalapeño dippers, chicken tenders and chili cheese smothered potatoes.

The Taco Bell cantinas are part of a plan the fast food chain announced last year to add 2.000 new restaurants globally and 10,000 new jobs in the United States by 2022.
