Pittsburgh High School Tightens Security After Shooting Rumor

Police are investigating a rumored shooting threat at a suburban Pittsburgh high school.

MT. LEBANON, PA — Security at Mt. Lebanon High School will be tightened for the next several days after rumors of a threat against the school.

Mt. Lebanon police and the school district resource officer have not substantiated any threat but security is being bolstered out of an abundance of caution. Police are investigating several Safe2Say tips regarding a possible shooting threat.

"We have advised the staff of the situation, asking them to immediately report any information they may hear or any out-of-the-ordinary student behavior, and be especially visible in the hallways during the change of class, hall-café duty, etc.," principal Joel Thompson wrote Tuesday in a statement on the district's website.
