Here are the top stories in Pittsburgh today:
1) World leaders are set to meet in Pittsburgh this week to explore strategies for cleaning up the energy sector. The discussion will cover the best options to complete the goal of transitioning to a low-carbon future, spanning from Wednesday to Friday at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh. Its lengthy list of prominent speakers includes Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, U.S. special presidential envoy for climate and former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Democratic U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin from West Virginia. Reports state that 6,100 people have registered to attend in person, while an untold number have signed up to view sessions online.
2) A Pittsburgh restaurant has garnered some national love after recently being named to the New York Times' Top 50 Favorite Restaurants in the U.S. list. The publication recognized Bloomfield's Apteka restaurant for their Eastern European cuisine. The restaurant, which serves a fully vegan menu, opened in 2016 near UPMC Children's Hospital on Penn Ave. The article touts the restaurant's vegan menu and the fact that "you won't notice anything missing." To create their list of their top 50 favorite restaurants nationwide, Times' writers "traveled widely and ate avidly," the article said.

3) Two people were taken to the hospital after falling from a balcony in Pittsburgh's Mount Washington neighborhood. The incident occurred around 1:40 a.m. this morning in the area of Bailey Ave. The two people involved in the fall, a man and woman, were found on the ground outside a home with head injuries. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The woman was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Police are investigating the cause of the incident.
4) The trial of Robert Bowers, the suspected Tree of Life shooter, has been set for next spring. This comes more than four years after the worst anti-semitic attack in U.S. history. Bowers is accused of killing 11 people at the synagogue in Pittsburgh's Squirrel Hill neighborhood in October 2018. Yesterday, it was announced that the jury selection process will begin on April 24, 2023, with the trial set to begin as soon as that process is complete. Bowers faces dozens of charges related to the attack.
5) The 7th annual Pittsburgh Chinese Cultural Festival is set to take place this Saturday. The event will take place in Mellon Park from 11 AM to 7 PM. Organized by the Pittsburgh Chinese Cultural Center, attendees can expect to find a wide array of Asian cuisine, exhibits, games, music, martial arts, dance performances, art and more. The festival is free to the public, and sponsored by UPMC and Comcast. Organizers are expecting about 5,000 folks to attend.
