Pittsburgh Mom Arrested After Young Son Tests Positive For Cocaine

Police were summoned after the boy fell ill.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A Mt. Oliver woman is facing charges after her child had to be hospitalized for exposure to cocaine.

Allegheny County Police went to UPMC Children's Hospital after the 7-year-old boy fell ill and tested positive for cocaine metabolite. He was treated and released from the hospital.

Police searched the home of the child's mother, Toni Hinton, 28, and found suspected cocaine and drug paraphernalia located in areas that were accessible to the boy.

After police consulted with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, Hinton was arrested and transported to the Allegheny County Jail. She has been charged with endangering the welfare of children, recklessly endangering another person and possession of cocaine.
