Pittsburgh Pirates Player's Wife Ailing After Rabid Racoon Attack
Pirates outfielder Travis Swaggerty says is wife has a rare blood disease caused by a rabid raccoon bite.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh Pirates minor leaguer Travis Swaggerty has revealed his wife is suffering from a rare blood disease caused by a rabid racoon attack last year.
In a statement posted on Twitter feed, Swaggerty said that his wife, Peyton, has been riddled with unresolved pain and problems that have robbed her of her quality of life.

Swaggerty added in a followup tweet that Peyton was off to the Mayo Clinic in hopes that physicians there could resolve her medical issues.

Swaggerty, the number 10 overall pick in the 2018 Major League Baseball draft, made his debut with the Pirates last year. He currently plays for the team's AAA affiliate in Indianapolis but currently is on a rehabilitation assignment with the Pirates' minor league affiliate in Bradenton.
