Pittsburgh Pizza Chain Benefitting PA Special Olympics

PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh-based Caliente Pizza & Draft House will benefit Special Olympics Pennsylvania with a series of upcoming events.

On Jan. 25, Caliente will host an all-company event in partnership with the Special Olympics, which is distributing flyers with event details. On Thursday, anyone with a flyer can visit a Caliente location for food and drinks, and a portion of their order will support the cause.

“At Caliente, our work has always been fueled by a desire to support communities and organizations making a difference in our region, and we couldn’t be happier to ring in the new year with a partnership that supports the life-changing impact of Special Olympics Pennsylvania,” Caliente owner Nick Bogacz told Patch.

Next month, Caliente will brave the cold for another event benefiting this partnership – its polar plunge on Feb. 24 at 9 a.m at Acrisure Stadium. Several Caliente team members will be plunging to show their support for the Special Olympics’ programs and advocacy work for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

“We are so thankful to partner with Caliente Pizza and Draft House this Polar Plunge season,” Andrew Fee, executive director of the Three Rivers Region for the Special Olympics Pennsylvania, said.

“The partnership highlights some great pizza and athletes, but more importantly, it helps us continue to provide free programming for 4,000 children and adults with disabilities in our region. Whether you are Freezin’ for a Reason or eating some great pizza, know that yinz are making a difference.”

Caliente is launching its Polar Plunge Pizza in honor of the partnership: a 5-cheese pie (mozzarella, provolone, shaved parmesan, ricotta and Romano cheeses) made with the restaurant’s award-winning, house-made vodka sauce. The extra-large pizzas will be sold for $24, and for every pizza purchased Thursday, January 25th, $2 will be donated to the Special Olympics.
