Pittsburgh Principal Placed On Leave After Violent School Fight

A Pittsburgh Public Schools principal is on leave after a violent fight at her school last week.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A Pittsburgh Public Schools high school principal has been placed on leave while the district reviews last week's fight that left one student hospitalized. District officials said Brashear High School principal Kimberly Safran is on non-disciplinary paid administrative leave.

Video of the altercation that circulated on social media showed one student slamming another male student's head onto the floor and then stomping on the victim's head. School security broke up the fight.

One student was hospitalized as a result of the incident. It was unclear Tuesday if he was released.

The fight ended a disturbing week that had parents protesting at Monday's school board meeting. Last Wednesday, an Oliver Citywide Academy student was shot and killed outside the school as classes were being dismissed for the day.
