Pittsburgh Rapper Jimmy Wopo Shot To Death

The rising figure in the rap world was killed in a drive-by shooting.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Rising Pittsburgh rapper Jimmy Wopo was shot and killed Monday in a drive-by shooting that left another person injured.

Wopo, 21, whose real name was Travon Smart, was shot in a vehicle at the intersection of Wylie Avenue and Duff Street. He was taken to a local hospital after the afternoon shooting, where he later died.

Pittsburgh police have not identified either shooting victim, but Wopo’s manager, Taylor Maglin, confirmed via Facebook that Wopo had been killed.

“I lost my brother today and it’s the worst feeling in the world. He was destined for greatness and he wanted the best for his friends, family and community,” Maglin wrote. “We lost a great person today, but just know I will do everything in my power to make his memory live on forever. Love you bro.”

The other victim was in stable condition, according to city police. Homicide detectives are investigating the incident and are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call police at 412-323-7800.
