Pittsburgh Rec Centers To Extend Hours During School Closure & Early Dismissal Days

Pittsburgh recreation centers will open early on days when Pittsburgh Public Schools aren't open or don't have classes for the entire day.

PITTSBURGH, PA — City of Pittsburgh recreation centers will begin extending their hours on days when Pittsburgh Public Schools are closed or have early dismissal.

The extended hours are intended top bridge the gap in care coverage free of charge for families.

“We want every family to choose Pittsburgh first and our recreation centers provide incredible services and programming for our youth,” Mayor Corey O’Connor said in a statement. “It’s important that our local families have free options for where kids can go on their days off school to play, discover and explore."
