Pittsburgh Resident Turns Family Loss Into Action at PFF Walk

For lifelong Pittsburgh resident Kevin Barr, the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation’s PFF Walk – Pittsburgh is deeply personal.

Kevin has lost multiple relatives to pulmonary fibrosis, a life-threatening disease that causes progressive scarring in the lungs and makes it increasingly difficult to breathe. More than 250,000 Americans are living with pulmonary fibrosis, yet many people have never heard of the disease.

On Saturday, June 27, Kevin will join hundreds of fellow supporters at North Shore Riverfront Park for the PFF Walk - Pittsburgh. The event brings together patients, caregivers, families and community members to raise critical funds for the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation’s research, education and patient support programs.

“Like many other families, we have become all too familiar with the impacts pulmonary fibrosis brings on loved ones and their caregivers alike,” said Kevin. “This walk is an opportunity to raise awareness, support others going through this and help fund the resources and research that patients and families need.”

By participating in the PFF Walk – Pittsburgh, Kevin hopes to encourage more people to learn about pulmonary fibrosis and encourage the community to support those affected by the disease.
