Pittsburgh Restaurant Hit With Consumer Alert

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for the Diljah Restaurant & Cafe on Semple Street in Oakland after numerous violations were found during a Jan. 2 inspection.

The inspector observed a live mouse in the basement. Mouse droppings were found in the kitchen behind the cook line, under a 3-compartment sink, behind the front service counter and in the basement. Nesting material found was in the employee restroom in the basement.

The restaurant was unable to produce any pest control service reports.

In addition to the rodent issues, ants were observed on the counter across from the cook line in the kitchen.

The mop sink in the kitchen was being used as a food preparation sink, as the food preparation sink is blocked by racks near a walk-in cooler.

The employee restroom lacked soap and paper towels.

The restaurant is permitted to operate as the Solo 7 Restaurant & Hookah Lounge and not Diljah Restaurant & Cafe.

A restaurant with a consumer alert placard is allowed to operate for a temporary period not exceeding 10 days. Another inspection is conducted either prior to the expiration of the temporary period upon request of the eatery owner or on the tenth day.
