Pittsburgh Restaurant Owner Arrested After Allegedly Shooting Teen

The shooting occurred over the alleged attempted theft of a tip jar, police said.

STOWE TOWNSHIP, PA — A restaurant owner was arrested late Saturday after allegedly shooting a teenager who was attempting to steal a tips jar.

Allegheny County police were summoned to the Hook Fish and Chicken on Broadway Avenue at around 10 p.m. after reports of gunshots being fired there. County 911 subsequently received a call of a 15-year-old teen suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on Bouquet Street.

Surveillance video showed the teen entering the restaurant and approaching the counter while the owner, Mohammed Hamdan, 39, began taking his order. The video then shows the teen reaching over the counter, taking the plastic tip gar and turning towards the exit. Hamdan then was seen raising a pistol and firing at least three shots at the teen.

The teen was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Hamdan was charged with aggravated assault and taken to the county jail.
