Pittsburgh Sci-Fi Writer Opening Cosmic-Themed Bar

Space Bar soon will touch down in the city. Get the details on its opening here.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh-based science fiction author Dale Thomas Vaughn is opening a sci-fi themed bar this month in Market Square. But he wants potential patrons to know that the tavern won't be adorned with little green moon men.

Vaughn says Space Bar will provide a sophisticated, immersive experience and be a place where "geek chic meets cosmic elegance."

"A space ship is inherently optimistic," Vaughn states on the bar's website. "People need hope right now, and we want to be a center for the dreamers.”

The bar's, ahem, space craft cocktails have names such as Neptune's Lagoon, Manhattan Project, Solar Storm, Event Horizon and -get ready for it - Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster. A full menu is not yet online, but one of the desserts will be astronaut ice cream bites.

Space Bar also promises to hold regular educational events with actual space scientists, science fiction writers, and "molecular mixologists."
