Pittsburgh Security Guard Shot

An on-duty security guard was shot as he approached a group of juveniles, police said.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A security guard was shot and wounded in the city's East Liberty section Wednesday evening.

Pittsburgh public safety officials said police were dispatched to the 6100 block of Station Street at about 7:45 p.m. for reports of a shot fired. They located the guard, 31, who had suffered a gunshot wound to his leg.

The guard said he was working nearby when he noticed several juveniles attempting to break into vehicles in an adjacent parking lot. He was shot as he approached them.

The guard was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

No suspects have been identified.
