Pittsburgh Seeking Tall Tree To Display For The Holiday Season
The Pittsburgh Department of Public Works is seeking someone to donate a tree that can by displayed in front of the City-County Building.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh Public Works is searching for someone to donate a large tree to display in front of the City-County Building, Downtown, for the holiday season. The tradition has occurred for more than a century.
The first tree was put up at the building's construction site in 1914.
“Even though it’s September, Forestry is busy with holiday planning,” Department of Public Works forester Lisa Ceoffe, said in a statement. “We are excited to find the perfect tree for the City-County Building this year and look forward to celebrating the holiday season with Pittsburgh.”

The tree can be any evergreen variety and should be a minimum of 40 feet tall.
Last year’s tree was a blue spruce planted in the 1990s and donated by the Fuga family from Lincoln Place.
