Pittsburgh September Weather: Here's What To Expect

The National Weather Service has issued its forecast for next month as summer transitions to autumn.

PITTSBURGH, PA — With most beach vacations but a memory as schools begin to reopen in southwestern Pennsylvania, you might be wondering what type of weather can be expected locally after a hot, humid and stormy summer.

The National Weather Service has issued its September forecast and after seeing it you might want to keep an umbrella handy. While temperatures are expected to be near normal for the month, there's a better than 40 percent chance of higher than average precipitation.

Also expect the amount of daylight to diminish considerably and average daily temperatures to, well, fall.

On Sept. 1, sunrise will occur at 6:47 a.m. and sunset will happen at 7:51 p.m. By Sept. 30, the sun will rise at 7:16 a.m. and set at 7:05 p.m.

The average high temperature on Sept. 1 is 81; the average low is 57. By month's end, the average high is 71 and the average low is 46.
