Pittsburgh T Service Temporarily Suspended Due To Bridge Fire
The T was shut down after the blaze erupted under the Panhandle Bridge.
PITTSBURGH, PA — T traffic on the Panhandle Bridge carrying light rail service across the Monongahela River between Downtown and the South Side was briefly suspended Tuesday after a fire erupted underneath the span.
Engineers were summoned to inspect the bridge, which since has reopened.
Due to a fire underneath the Panhandle Bridge (the bridge light rail vehicles take to cross the Monongahela River), all light rail service is temporarily suspended south of First Avenue. There are three cars operating between First Ave and Allegheny stations.
