Pittsburgh TV Broadcaster Undergoes Heart Surgery

A veteran Pittsburgh TV broadcaster is recovering from open heart surgery.

PITTSBURGH, PA — WPXI-TV sportscaster Alby Oxenreiter is off the air while recovering from open heart surgery, the station announced.

Oxenreiter "developed a major blood infection that traveled to his heart," a post on the station's website stated. The surgeon replaced two heart valves, but other complications from the surgery have delayed his recovery."

WPXI said a full recover "will be a long road ahead."
