Pittsburgh TV News Reporter Suddenly Leaves Station
A Pittsburgh TV station news reporter has announced his departure.
PITTSBURGH, PA — WTAE-TV general assignment news reporter Mike Valente has left the station after two years. His last day at WTAE was Sept. 30.
Valente made the announcement in a social media post this week.
"I couldn’t have asked for a better experience or better viewers," he stated. "To everyone in the region, thanks for making this a memorable two years. There was never a dull day and I think that’s pretty cool.

"In an industry where truth is paramount, I’m grateful that I worked for a station where every single person is striving to deliver the most honest, accurate information we can get. I’m also appreciative of our competitors, because their drive makes us better too."
Valente did not give a reason for his departure or outline his future plans.

According to his page on the station website, Valente is a Syracuse University graduate who began his career with ABC Radio in New York City. He transitioned into TV while working in West Virginia and Kentucky.
