Pittsburgh TV Station Revamps With New ID

A Pittsburgh TV station is getting rebranded.

PITTSBURGH, PA — With WPCW-TV jettisoning its CW Network relationship at the end of August, the station likely will change its call letters to WPKD-TV, according to Pbrtv.com.

Although the station no longer will be affiliated with the network, the Paramount-owned station will retain its KDKA produced newscasts and "The Nightly Sports Call."

Other programming decisions have yet to be announced.

“We look forward to re-imagining these stations as independents while leveraging the considerable value of their prime-time real estate in each of the markets,” Wendy McMahon, president and co-head of CBS News, said in a recent statement.

“It’s an exciting time to look at new opportunities to add local programming, including live sports, and shows from across the Paramount Global brands. We are also grateful to have been part of The CW for 17 memorable years."
