Pittsburgh VFD Raising Money For Firefighter After Daughter's Death
The Mt. Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department has embarked on a community fundraising effort following the death last week of Abigail Neal, 10.
MT. LEBANON, PA — The Mt. Lebanon Fire Department is raising money to pay for the funeral and other expenses of the daughter of firefighter Chris Neal.
Fire Chief Nicholas Sohyda established a GoFundMe page to honor the memory of Abigail Neal, 10. Abigail and her mother, Serena Guan, 43, were found dead in Guan's vehicle in a grove in South Park on June 7.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office has not released the cause and manner of their deaths. There were no obvious signs of trauma, according to police investigating the incident.

Sohyda stated on the GoFundMe page that department members are "devastated" over the loss of Neal's family members.
"At the same time, the Mt. Lebanon School District is grieving the loss of Abigail Neal, a sweet and bright student who brought joy to all she knew at Howe Elementary School," Sohyda wrote.

"The fire department is wrapping Chris in love the way all families do during loss and the district is coming together to comfort each other during this time of immeasurable sorrow. All of us wish to alleviate the financial burden of this unimaginable tragedy by paying for the funeral and other related expenses."
