Pittsburgh Violence Continues: 2 Shootings, 1 Fatal; Woman Stabbed
Thursday was a violent day in and around the city.
PITTSBURGH, PA — In three violent incidents in Pittsburgh Thursday, one woman was shot to death, another woman was shot as she sat in her car and a woman was stabbed in the neck.
In the fatal shooting, Pittsburgh police responded to a 12-round ShotSpotter alert in the area of Fleming and Falck avenues in the city's Brighton Heights neighborhood just before 11 p.m. At the scene, the found a woman inside a vehicle on Fleming suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
She was taken to an area hospital where she died. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Danasia Lighty, 25, of Pittsburgh.

The initial investigation shows one suspect approached the vehicle on foot and fired inside before leaving the area.
In the stabbing incident, police were summoned around 11:45 p.m. to the 1100 block of Hall Street on the city's North Side for reports of an aggravated assault.

A woman reportedly walked to seek help at a residence after being stabbed in the neck at a nearby location. Medics transported her to the hospital in critical condition.
Police located a crime scene inside a residence on Rothpletz Street.
Earlier in the day, Allegheny County 911 was notified at around 4 p.m. of a shooting in the area of Pennwood Avenue and Rowland Connector.
First responders found 65-year-old woman shot in the lower back while seated in her vehicle. She was not the intended target of the shooting.
The woman was taken to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition.
Officers reported two men wearing black clothing were seen fleeing the area on food. County homicide detectives are investigating.
