Pittsburgh Weather: Severe Storms, Potential Tornadoes Possible
Wednesday could be an extremely active weather day in Pittsburgh and southwestern Pennsylvania, forecasters say.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The National Weather Service is warning of potentially severe weather in Pittsburgh and southwestern Pennsylvania Wednesday afternoon and evening.
The main threat will be damaging winds but there will also be a chance of large hail and isolated tornadoes. The weather service stated on social media early Wednesday that potential watches and warnings could be issued later today.
Expect rainfall amounts of as much as a quarter of an inch today and as much as half an inch this evening. Winds will pick up to as much as 24 mph. Higher rainfall totals and wind gusts are possible during storms.

State College-based AccuWeather warns that Pittsburgh should be on the lookout for rapidly changing weather conditions this afternoon and evening. Wind gusts of as high as 75 mph are possible in Pittsburgh, Louisville, Cincinnati and Columbus.
