Pittsburgh Weekend Guide: Kid-A-Palooza, Cat Show And More

PITTSBURGH, PA - It’s cold and snowy and you’ve reached the point in winter where you’ve run out of ideas on indoor weekend activities for the kids. What are you supposed to do?
This weekend, head down to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center for the Giant Eagle Kid-A-Palooza. This annual indoor carnival offers entertaining rides, crafts, sports, characters, educational activities, games, exhibits and more.
The vent runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Giant Eagle Kid-A-Palooza tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for kids 2-11 and free for younger kids. Admission price includes rides, giveaways and many activities! Additional cost for select purchases.

- Pittsburgh Remodeling Expo, Feb. 9, 2-7 p.m.; Feb. 10, 10 a.m-7 p.m.; Feb. 11, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Heinz Field

Pittsburgh Remodeling Expo tickets are $5. Admission is free for anyone under 18.
- Steel City Kitties Annual Cat Show, Feb. 10-11, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monroeville Convention Center, Monroeville.
This is the place to be to meet breeders and learn something about your favorite cat breed. Vendors will be on hand selling premium cat food, toys, cat jewelry, silk scarves, etc. Cats will be available for adoption and pedigreed felines will be competitively judged.
Steel City Kitties Annual Cat Show tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $6 for children and kids 5 and younger are free.
- Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Feb. 9-10, 8 p.m., Feb. 11, 2:30 p.m., Heinz Hall, Downtown.
You’d think these folks would want to rest on their laurels after winning tow Grammy Awards for the “Shostakovich 5-Barber Adagio” CD. But they’ll be hard at work this weekend with Finnish conductor, Osmo Vänskä leading the orchestra’s performance of Kabalevsky’s “The Comedians,” Stravinsky’s violin concerto, Rautavaara’s “A Requiem in our Time” and Beethoven’s classic Symphony Number 5.
