Pittsburgh Weekend Halloween Events Guide

The diverse selection of Halloween activities includes haunted houses, movies, bar crawls and more.

PITTSBURGH, PA - As Oct. 31 draws closer, there’s no shortage of Halloween-related activities going on around town this weekend. Let’s start with ScareHouse, the Etna mainstay that has been rated one of “America’s Scariest Halloween Attractions” by Travel Channel and has been featured on Good Morning America, USA TODAY, CBS News and ABC News among others.

This year’s featured ScareHouse haunts, which are included in the price of a general admission ticket, include Pittsburgh Zombies Reanimated, Infernal Darkness: Demons in Darkness and Nocturnia 3-D, a twisted carnival carnival of clowns and creatures with all new 3-D effects.

ScareHouse hours this weekend are OCt. 12 and 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Oct. 14 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. There’s no parking, but free shuttles run continuously from the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium.

  • Witches Film Festival, Oct. 13 and 14, all day long, Row House Cinemas, Lawrenceville.

Row House kicks off its cinematic Halloween season by focusing on a favorite spooky and magical being, the witch. Some movies are family friendly, while others are ultra-realistic and ot for the easily squeamish. Among the offerings: “Hocus Pocus,” “Suspiria,” “The Craft,” “The Witch,” and “Cube.” Whatever you do, don’t take the kiddies to see “Suspiria.”

Row House Cinema tickets start at $8.

  • Pittsburgh’s Bloody Bar Crawl, Oct. 13, 2:30 p.m., various South Side locations.

Bloody Mary fans, this is the bar crawl for you. Sip some of the finest Bloody Marys the South Side has to offer while helping raise money for the western Pennsylvania chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation. The crawl stops include Double Wide Grill, Local, Tiki Lounge, Steel Cactus and Foxtail. Along the way, there will be a prize wheel and Scarehouse zombies, raffles and prizes for the best Halloween costume.

Pittsburgh’s Bloody Bar Crawl tickets are $25.

  • Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Danny Elfman’s Music From The Films of Tim Burton, Oct. 12 and 13, 8 p.m., Oct. 14, 2:30 p.m., Heinz Hall, Downtown.

Just in time for Halloween - Danny Elfman’s spine tingling scores for Tim Burton films such as “Batman,” “Beetlejuice,” “Edward Scissorhands,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and more.

  • Phantom Fright Nights, Oct. 13 and 14, 6 p.m. to midnight, Kennywood.

t's time once again for Kennywood to be overrun with ghouls and ghosts. Enjoy haunt lineup favorites such as BioFear, Mortem Manor and Voodoo Bayou. Rides that will be open include Phantom’s Revenge, Jack Rabbit, Racer, Noah’s Ark, Ghostwood Estate, Cosmic Chaos and Skycoaster. New this year is the Welcoming Committee, a group of gruesome ghouls that will pop up at the park entrance tunnel lurking around to scare unsuspecting guests as they make their way toward the park's 10 haunted areas.

Phantom Fright Night tickets start at $29.99.
