Pittsburgh Winter Storm Watch Issued, Projected Snow Totals Rise
A winter storm watch has been issued for Pittsburgh and all of southwestern Pennsylvania. Find out here how bad the storm likely will be.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Pittsburgh and southwestern Pennsylvania from 1 a.m. Saturday until 1 a.m. Sunday. Total snow accumulations now are expected to be between 5 and 7 inches.
The snow won't be the only problem. Winds are high as 45 mph across the region possibly will drop visibility to under a quarter-mile because of falling and blowing snow. The weather service warns that strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs could down power lines and cause sporadic power outages.
Whiteout conditions are possible and could make travel treacherous.
