Pittsburgh Woman Accused Of Setting Boyfriend On Fire

The woman faces a litany of criminal charges for allegedly attempting to kill her boyfriend during an argument.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A Carrick woman was arrested Tuesday for allegedly setting setting her boyfriend on fire during an argument.

Police were called to a Madeline Street apartment for a report of a burn patient. They found the victim, 43, with first- and second-degree burns to his arms, stomach, chest and back.

He was taken to Mercy Hospital burn unit. His condition was unknown Wednesday.

Perez told police that the victim had poured some rubbing alcohol on his hand to clean a cut and the fire occurred when he lit a marijuana. The victim had another story. He told police that he and Cecilia Perez, 47, were drinking and arguing when Perez poured a liquid on him that caused his clothes to catch on fire.

According to court documents, Perez is charged with criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault, aggravated arson, arson endangering persons, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief.

Perez is being held without bond in the Allegheny County. She faces a preliminary hearing on Oct. 10, according to court documents.
